Your samay baji, your way.

Every Newar family argues about what belongs on the plate. Start with beaten rice, then add what you love and watch it land on the leaf.

Why lapte

The plate is part of the meal.

Lapte are sal leaves stitched together with bamboo slivers. At a Newar feast everyone sits in a long row and the food arrives course by course, beaten rice first, sweet curd last. We kept the plates and the order, and added chairs for those who want them.
